Pickering company awarded contract to collect garbage in Toronto

After much debate on Monday, Toronto City Council voted in favour of privatizing garbage pick up from Yonge Street west to the Humber River, north to Steeles Avenue and south to Lake Ontario. The seven year contract was awarded to Picketing based GFL Environmental East Corporation. The deal is worth more than $185-million.  City officials say this arrangement will save taxpayers close to $78-million.
