Whitby New Hospital Task Force recommends building a complex continuing care rehab centre

There’s a new focus for the future of health care in Durham Region. The Whitby New Hospital Task Force is now recommending a complex continuing care rehab centre, which would double as a centre of research and teaching, connected to UOIT and Durham College. Chair Christopher White says there is sufficient acute care and emergency care currently built into the system, but the lack of complex continuing care beds is backing up other areas. Whitby council has given its approval to the plan, which will next go to the Region and then the province.
