Strong start to 2012 for the Town of Whitby, as building permit sales soar in January

Building activity in the Town of Whitby is off to a flying start in 2012. A total of 74 permits were sold last month, which was up from 51 in January 2011. Nearly all the sales came in the residential sector, more than double last year’s numbers.  Despite the increase in the number of permits sold, total construction value was down 27 percent from last January, to just under $20 million.
