Oshawa passes 2.3-per cent tax hike

OSHAWA — Oshawa is coming in with the lowest tax increase in Durham this year, a 2.3-per cent increase, or $32 on a home valued at $200,000.

Overall, the total tax increase including the Regional portion of the bill and education taxes is 1.6 per cent, or $58 on that same home in Oshawa.

The draft budget presented by staff at the beginning of the process included a 2.6-per cent increase and councillors whittled down that figure on the final day of budget deliberations on Feb. 29.
