The Oshawa CMA was the exception to Ontario’s slow down in housing starts last month. According to Canada Mortgage and Housing, there was a four-year record high number of single-detached home starts in the Oshawa CMA in November, and construction got underway on a total of 232 units. In Toronto however, housing starts were at their lowest level since the beginning of the year, with just over 28-thousand starts. CMHC expects the pause in Toronto to be short lived though, with a number of projects expected to get underway in the months ahead.
