Durham College has entered the third and final phase of their Whitby campus expansion. The 36,000 square foot ‘Centre for Food’ opens in 2013 to Agriculture, Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary students. Whitby Mayor Pat Perkins says the town has seen huge benefits from the college, since the Whitby campus opened in 1993. College President Don Lovisa says the centre will give students actual, hands-on learning with a restaurant, a wine tasting lab and a hotel room. The expansion is expected to cost between $17 and $18 million.
