Despite lower than usual census numbers, Durham MPP believes the future is bright for the region

A population boom west of Saskatchewan, has seen the number of new residents in Ontario at its lowest point in a number of years. Higher minimum wage, the economic strength of crude oil refineries and an excess of jobs has seen new immigrants pushing towards the countries west coast. Durham MPP John O’Toole believes that even though the numbers aren’t as high as they have been in recent years, Durham region has all the tools to be a major destination in the near future. Clarington saw the largest increase in population, up 8.6 percent from 2006.
