Town of Ajax beleives new development isn’t nesscecary when it comes to urban sprawl

Ajax is continuing to fight against planned urbanization for northeast Pickering. Mayor Steve Parish says council supports the provinces direction, and believes Durham region already has all the land it needs for urban sprawl. Officials at the region have planned for a section on the north part of Carruthers Creek to be part of a development to serve population growth over the next couple of decades, something Parish says would lead to large costs for taxpayers.
